King's College 'ta MA yapmak için gerekenler

Özellikle yeni başlayan bursiyer arkadaşlar için yardımcı olacağını düşündüğüm bir paylaşım yapmaya karar verdim. Umarım faydalı olur.

İlk olarak King's College hakkında genel bir bilgi vermek istiyorum. Times'ın World Reputation Ranking listesinde King's College 2015 yılında 31. sırada bulunmaktadır. Linkini paylaşıyorum, buradan diğer üniversiteleri de inceleyebilirsiniz.

 Bilindiği üzere özellikle YLSY bursiyerlerinden Milli Eğtim Bakanlığı dünya sıralamasında ilk 500 içinde bulunan bir üniversiteden kabul alınmasını talep ediyor. Bu konuda King's College'ın sıralamasında Milli Eğitim Bakanlığından yana herhangi bir sıkıntı yaşamazsınız. Okulun eğitim kalitesine gelince sıkı ve net kuralları olan bir okul ve gerçekten bu okula başlamak istiyorsanız, sıkı çalışmanızı ve psikolojinizi yüksek tutmanızı öneririm. Rekabet oranı yüksek olduğu için kütüphanede en az 8 saat harcamanız gereken durumlarla karşılaşacaksınız ve ayrıca peşin olarak uyarmak isterim ki, bursiyerler arasındaki genel kanı olan "bizim bursumuz var, para güvencemiz var, İngiltere'de tüm okullar paraya bakıyor, kesinlikle sıkıntı yaşamayız olmadı hocalarla konuşuruz" diye bir düşünceniz varsa King's College size göre bir yer değil. Okul'un zaten para ile ilgili bir sıkıntısı yok.

Kampüs Hayatı

King's College'ın Londra'nin merkezinde dağılmış şekilde bir çok kampüs binası bulunmaktadır. Strand, Waterloo, Denmark Hill etc. Özellikle Strand campus tam şehrin göbeğinde, öğle araları Thames nehri ve London Eye manzarası ile kahve içebileceğiniz ve ulaşım olarak her şekilde kolayca gelebileceğiniz bir konuma sahip. Başvuru Süreci

Ben geçtiğimiz Mart ayında başvurumu tamamladım. Öncelikle bireysel olarak başvuru yapmadığımı belirtmek istedim çünkü süreç boyunca dil ile uğraşıyorsunuz ve ders çalşmanız gerekiyor IELTS sınavını geçmek için bu nedenle ücretsiz danışmanlık şirketi ile çalıştım. Eğer halihazırda danışmanlık şirketi arayan bursiyer arkadaşlar varsa şiddetle Alternatif Yurt dışı Danışmanlık Şirketini öneririm. Bunun haricinde okula başvuru yapabilmek için "personal statement" hazırlamanız gerekiyor. Neden bu üniversiteyi seçtiğiniz, ne konuda çalışmak istediğiniz, akademik ilgi alanlarınız vs. Bu bölümü önümüzdeki günlerde "Personal Statement Nasıl Hazırlanır" adlı ayrı bir başlık altında daha ayrıntılı yazmayı planlıyorum.

Ayrıca akademik CV oluşturmanız gerekiyor. Ne zaman mezun olduğunuz, varsa yayınlarınız katıldığınız programlar, seminerler varsa iş tecrübeleriniz etc.

Kilit nokta ise bölümünüz ile ilgili, eğer felsefe bölümünden MA yapacaksınız sizden 3000 kelimelik essay istiyorlar başvuru sürecinde. Lütfen özen gösterin çünkü ben ilk olarak hiç özen göstermeden yazıp -formalite olduğunu düşündüğüm için- University of YORK 'a başvurdum ve reddedildim. Bilginize.

Gereken IELTS puanı ve Pre-sessional Course olanakları

Bilindiği üzere İngiliz Üniversitelerinin Amerikan Üniversitelerinden farkı Pre- sessional Course olanaklarının bulunması. Eğer IELTS sınavından overall 7 puanınız varsa direk MA 'e başlayabilirsiniz. Fakat gerekli puanı alamadıysanız Pre- sessional Course 'a başlayabilirsiniz ki şunu belirtmeliyim King's College'ın Pre- sessional Course'u gayet katı kurallara sahip MA kabulünuz olması geçeceğiniz anlamına gelmiyor, sıkı çalışmazsanız kalma ihtimaliniz çok yüksek. Eğer kalırsanız MA 'ye başlayamıyorsunuz ne yazık ki  ve Bakanlık sizden kursa ödenen parayı talep ediyor. Bilginize.

Pre- sessional Course

Pre- sesisonal 'a başladığınızda sizi uykusuz ve stresli günler bekliyor bilginiz olsun çünkü geçme notu diğer üniversitelerden farklı olarak min. 70 (departmanına göre değişikilik gösterebiliyor)
Size ilk olarak formative yani notlandırılmayan essay yazdırıyorlar, bunun haricinde akademik çalışma nasıl yapılır, kaynak nasıl taranır, akademik bir essay nasıl yazılır, kaynakça nasıl gösterilir vs. gibi konulara yoğunlaşıyorlar kesinlikle size dil öğretmiyorlar siz zaten essay hazırlarken ister istemez dili öğreniyorsunuz.
Formative essay ve presentation yaptıktan sonra birçok feedback alıyorsunuz hocanızdan ve en son notlandırılacak olan essayinizi ve presentation ınızı hazırlıyorsunuz ardından 3 saatlik reading, listening ve writing sınavı oluyorsunuz. Yazdığınız essayin %45 i, presentation ın %15 'i ve final exam'in %40 'ı alınıyor ve toplanıyor eğer 70 puanınız yoksa ki 67 gibi bir puanla kaldınız departmanınıza yazı yazılıyor ve genellikle departmanlar kabul ediyor. Fakat 65 gibi bir puanla kalırsanız kesinlikle kabul alma şansınız yok. Ayrıca departmanların esnekliği değişkenelik gösterebiliyor, örneğin klinik psikoloji gibi bir alanda MA yapmak istiyorsanız -çok popüler bir alan olduğu için- 69 ile reddedilen kişiler bulunuyor. Bu nedenle okula başlamadan önce çok iyi analiz edip öyle karar vermenizi öneririm.

IELTS BAND 6 / 6.5 İÇİN GEREKLİ KELİMELER ve İPUÇLARI 5. BÖLÜM

IELTS sınavından yüksek puan almanın en önemli etkenlerinden biri kullanılan kelimelerin seviye dereceleridir. Tier4 İngiltere vizesi mülakatı için ipuçları

İngiltere'de öğrenim görmek için iki tane temel vize türü mevcuttur. İlki özellikle dil okuluna başlayacaklar için verilen student vizesidir. Bu vizeye başvurduğunuzda herhangi bir mülakata girmenize gerek yoktur 10 ya da 15 gün içinde elinize ulaşır ve kursunuzun bittiği gün ülkeyi terk etmek zorundasınızdır. Extra bir gün dahi kalmanıza izin verilmez. Diğer vize türü Tier4 olarak adlandırılır ve özellikle master ya da PHD yapacaksanız bu vize türünü almanız gerekir ve vizeye başvurduğunuz da Skype üzerinden İngilizce mülakata alınırsınız. Burada işinize yarayacak birkaç öneride bulunmak istiyorum. Bu mülakatın amacı sizin İngiltere'de kalmayacağınızdan emin olmak içindir ve açık konuşmak gerekirse çok formal bir mülakattır sorular genellikle  şu şekildelir:

"İngiltere'de nerede kalacaksın?"

"Neden bu üniversitede master yapmak istiyorsun?"

 "Gelecek planın nedir?"

 "Neden bu bölümü okudun?"

"Yapacağın master sana ne kazandıracak?"

Yapmanız gereken çok soğuk kanlı olarak sorulara mantıklı cevaplar vermenizdir. Onlara ülkeye döndüğünüzde ne yapacağınızı açıkça söylemeniz gereklidir ki sizin İngiltere'de kalmayacağınızdan emin olsunlar. Ayrıca kalacak yer sorusu gerçekten tuzak sorudur ve sakın "amcamın oğlu orada yaşıyor yanında kalacağım" gibi cevaplar vermeyin. Bu tip cevaplar sizin ailenizden birilerinin halihazırda İngiltere'de bulunduğu ve gelecekte sizin de onlar gibi ülkeye yerleşeceğiniz izlenimini verir. Bunun yerine "okulun accommodation ın da kalacağım" demeniz çok daha uygun olur. Neden bu okulu seçtin tarzı sorularda ise genellikle "çünkü benim alanımda en iyisi" gibi cevaplar vermeniz kafi olur, "ucuzdu ondan seçtim" gibi maddi durumunuzu belli edecek herhangi bir cevap vermekten itinayla kaçının.
